Mobile devices offer convenient communication capabilities and could create intermediary support for the user and their environment enhancing an ambient intelligent space. This research focuses on the development of an Ambient Media Migratory Interface Adaptation (AMMIA) system. AMMIA is a communication and synchronisation framework that will facilitate co-ordinated connectivity across various environmentally distributed devices via sensor data mapping. The intention is to provide sedulous location-independent and appliance-sensitive multi-media viewing for the user. The AMMIA system’s function is in the autonomous realisation of a user’s presence through Radio Frequency Identification readings permitting implicit interactions within the system to deliver contextualised viewing. The communication will permit a one to many (1:n) exchange via shared distributed devices utilised in smart architectural space. The aim is to deliver contextual information without the need for direct user manipulation, and engagement at the level of peripheral perception.

Co-operative interface communication coupled with context awareness will facilitate optimisation and customisation in these displays, leading to the concept of technologically integrated spaces. Technologically integrated spaces have the potential to change our perception of information and our behavioural interaction associated with its provision.
