Welcome to my personal page

I received my BEng (Hons) in Electronics from the Universidad del Norte, (Barranquilla - Colombia) in 2006 and my MSc (Magna Cum Laude) in Electronics Engineering from the Pontificia Universidad Javeriana, (Bogotá - Colombia) in 2008.

I worked as a research assistant in the Department of Electronics Engineering at the Pontificia Universidad Javeriana, (Bogotá - Colombia), from July 2006 to June 2008. During the summer of 2008, I did a summer internship in the Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering at the University of Delaware (Newark - USA). Afterwards, I was appointed Lecturer in the Department of Electronics and Telecommunication Engineering at the Universidad Autónoma del Caribe (Barranquilla - Colombia).

Since September 2009, I started attending The University of Ulster to pursue my PhD in Computer Science. I am developing my research project at the Intelligent Systems Research Centre, where I joined the Nanoelectronics Research Team to work on dedicated hardware architectures for spiking neural networks under the supervision of Dr. Jim Harkin and Dr. Liam McDaid.

My research interests relate to: System and Network on Chip (SoC and NoC), Neuromorphic Systems, Embedded Systems, GPGPUs, and Computer Arithmetic.

I received a Magna Cum Laude distinction in my master degree and I was the co-recipient of the Best Paper Award in the 9th International Conferences on Evolvable Systems (ICES 2010) and  the co-recipient of the ENNS Student Grant Award in the 21st International Conference on Artificial Neural Networks (ICANN 2011). I am also part of the IEEE CIS GOLD Sub-Committee (2010/2011/2012) and the GOLD Rep of the UKRI CIS Chapter (2011/2012).
