At ISRC we place great importance on the commercialisation of Research. The Business Development function at ISRC working in tandem with the University's dedicated Innovation Services team are constantly seeking to explore routes for commercialising the Intellectual Property arising from our research. We have a growing Patent portfolio and a broad range of innovative projects. See below a brief overview of some of these projects:
Arthritis Data Glove: Development of a wearable data glove which tracks movement and gives accurate feedback to the clinician.
Brain Computer Interface (BCI) Game: Use of signal processing algorithms to develop an interactive game.
Brain Computer Interface (BCI) for stroke rehabilitation: Mental practice - patent filed.
Drug Dose Monitor: Device to monitor and display drug intake for users of aerosol inhalers. Received £100k Proof of Concept funding from InvestNI in August 2009.
Embrace: Technology to implement Spiking Neural Network (SNN) on chip. Patent filed.
Gastric Tube: Prototype device to assist with correct insertion of gastric tube into patient's stomach.
Games Middleware: Application being developed in-house for implementation on Emergent Game Technologies' Gamebryo platform.
Hexagonal Imaging: Development of commercial image processing algorithms for next generation hexagonal cameras.
INNSULIN: Mobile phone application to advise level of Insulin needed using Artificial Neural Network.
Respiratory monitor: Tele-monitoring in patients with chronic hypercapnic respiratory failure on non-invasive ventilation.
Secure Digital Watermarking: Data encryption and steganography technology. Two patents filed. Received £100k Proof of Concept funding from InvestNI in July 2009. NISP Connected HiTech category award Sep 09.
Song Form: Intelligent Self-Similarity K-Means Clustering to address gaps in streaming music over wireless networks. Patent filed.
